The Hidden Language of Our Emotions Inspired by Chapter 2 of “Shanti Sutra” by Shailesh Dubey
Most of us are taught to control our emotions.
Smile when you're sad. Stay calm when you're angry. Be “strong” when your heart is breaking.
But no one tells us emotions aren’t meant to be suppressed — they’re meant to be understood.
In Chapter 2 of Shanti Sutra, I explored a truth many of us forget:
Emotions are not your enemies. They are your messengers.
Why do you react the way you do?
Have you ever found yourself overreacting to something small — like a word, a tone, or a gesture — and later wondered, “Why did that affect me so deeply?”
That’s not random. That’s your emotional memory at work.
For example:
If you felt ignored as a child, even a delayed text from someone close can trigger anxiety.
If you were often criticized, a simple suggestion might feel like rejection.
These deep emotional responses aren’t weakness.
They are unhealed stories speaking to you, saying: “There’s something here you haven’t looked at yet.”
What happens when we pause and listen?
Chapter 2 gently invites you to stop running from these emotional waves and start observing them.
Rather than avoiding your sadness, you learn to ask:
“Where is this coming from?”
“What is this emotion trying to teach me?”
This simple act of noticing — without judgment — is where healing begins.
A small step you can try today:
Next time you feel a strong emotion, don’t distract yourself.
Take a breath. Sit with it.
Ask: “Is this feeling from this moment… or from a deeper memory?”
Even if you don’t get the answer immediately, the question opens the door to awareness.

Final Thought:
“You don’t have to fix all your emotions.
You just have to feel them — fully, honestly, and with compassion.”
Let your emotions speak. They’ve been waiting to be heard.
